It is time to say goodbye after 15 years

After 15 years I'm announcing the closure of Bestwebframeworks.com. This decision was not made lightly and it comes with mixed emotions. While this chapter is coming to an end, I am somewhat proud of what we have achieved together. Hoping that the shared knowledge and experiences gained here will continue to enrich your decisions to choose the most suitable web framework for your needs while the website remain temporary in read-only mode until eventually taken offline.

Beginnings and Evolutions of Bestwebframeworks

When I started this project journey back in 2009, I had an idea of creating a space where people could help each other to choose the right web framework for your needs. Over the years, this project has grown continuously, thanks to the support and experience sharing of users like you. Three major website reworks were launched over the years - you could check out the evolution of homepage for version 1, previous homepage for version 2 and the latest launched version 3 homepage. Similar, the PHP framework overview page also evolved from version 1, version 2 and version 3 of PHP framework overview.

Statistics of the Website

With over 750.000 visitors over the 15 years that averaged to about 50k people who visited the website yearly for information on frameworks and tutorials on how to fix certain occurred problems.

With 12 programming languages and a hand-curated list of over 150 frameworks a not insignificant range of different technologies and ecosystems got covered. Totally 250 framework reviews were published by you all 3500 registered users.

Since 2011 statistics were collected from the Stack Exchange API to derive the popularity of the various frameworks. Over the years interesting shifts in popularity could be observed how the usage/question distribution changed, therefore I recommend to check them out.

The most interest was shown in frameworks for the languages PHP, Java and Python in that order.
